Straight on the tails of the more brutal Cannibal Holocaust, Umberto Lenzi also returned to cannibal territory in Cannibal Ferox, which follows student Gloria as she explores the Amazon for a thesis she is writing. Thanks to the efforts and foul behaviour of the psychotic Mike, she and her group of friends are captured and subject to a myriad of gruesome fates. Released by Replay Video in the UK, the film was actually one of the first to be re-submitted for legitimate certification but due to the uncut version still hanging around, both versions were ultimately prosecuted to keep a lid on the bloody affair.
