Delirium | 1979 | USA | Peter Maris
A not-too-successful mix of post-war craziness and vigilante action, this low-key film from Peter Maris focuses on the actions of Charlie, a damaged Vietnam veteran who is employed by a shadowy group of vigilantes to kill those who have escaped conventional justice. However, the job begins to take its toll on him, and he snaps, randomly murdering a number of women. The head of the secret syndicate must put an end to Charlie before their operation is exposed to the quickly encroaching police. While boasting a fair share of misogyny and some kill sequences, the rather flat execution did nothing to dissuade the DPP who tried to have it banned along with the other nasties.
