Following on from the cannibal-themed shockers of the same era, Devil Hunter takes a much more disorientating approach with less emphasis on blood and more emphasis on naked aloofness. Actress Laura is kidnapped by greedy thugs who take her to a jungle to await the impending ransom. They instead encounter a living cannibal god, who not only scatters their party but challenges intrepid hero Peter to a fight to the death, with the lovely Laura as the victor’s prize. While the blood flows little and the hallucinogenic sounds coats the entire production, someone from somewhere complained and the rather innocuous Cinehollywood release found itself branded obscene.
