Faces of Death | 1978 | USA | Conan LeCilaire
From the murky pool of mondo films, Faces of Death introduces Dr. Francis B. Gross as our narrator, who then proceeds to showcase a multitude of deaths, both animal and human, as the result of murder or accidents. Not boasting a conventional narrative, the film is more of a shockumentary style product that blends both real footage of deaths and animal deaths with staged variations of deaths and accidents. Shrouded in perpetual mystery for many years, the original VHS from Atlantis was actually already cut, including missing the scene of electrocution showcased on the cover. This did nothing to prevent the film being banned anyway, especially due to MPs believing some of the faked scenes were in fact real.
