I Miss You, Hugs & Kisses | 1978 | Canada | Murray Markowitz
With a title like that, it’s hard to imagine a police officer seizing it and the DPP to push for a prosecution on it. Sometimes known as Drop Dead Dearest, the film is based on the real-life crime of Peter Demeter, a Canadian businessman who was convicted of murdering his wife. In the dramatization, Charles detests his younger wife Magdalene as she openly disrespects him, cheats on him and spends his money. When she turns up dead in their garage, an investigation is opened to a whole host of potential suspects, including the deceased herself… It takes some liberties with the source material introducing more suspects and throwing some minor sex and violence in but there’s still nothing really offensive in it, so it’s a complete mystery with this one.
