Killer Nun | 1979 | Italy | Giulio Berruti

A nunsploitation picture with a giallo flavour, this sole effort from Giulio Berruti was released on Fletcher Video in the early 80’s. Sister Gertrude is starting to falter, with intense pain and mania from a previous surgery catching up with her. She begins to illegally obtain morphine to ease her suffering, only to suffer bizarre visions and a rapid change in behaviour. When her patients begin to turn up dead, all suspicion falls to her. With some bloody kills like an old woman’s face being mutilated with pins and a scalpel and an old man being choked while getting head, Killer Nun is conceptually rather nasty. It’s theorised that it was actually the cover that got it in trouble as a nun looks like she is performing fellatio on it, but the film itself was acquitted and dropped subsequently.
