Pink Flamingos | 1972 | USA | John Waters
Even today, John Waters’ outrageous shocker Pink Flamingos still has the power to make viewers gasp, with some of the most eyebrow-raising antics ever committed to celluloid. Fabulous drag queen Divine is ecstatic when her brazenly wanton lifestyle earns her the accolade of ‘filthiest person alive’, only to attract the ire of equally foul competitors, the Marble family. After a catalogue of depraved acts including incest, murder, sex, prolapsed anuses, and animal death, Divine ultimately triumphs over adversity to become the de facto ‘filthiest person in the world’. The movie was released uncut by Palace video and was f subject to destruction orders upon seizure by police, mainly due to the presence of animal cruelty and unsimulated fellatio.
