The Funhouse | 1981 | USA | Tobe Hooper
Named accidentally instead of the much more disturbing Last House on Dead End Street, Tobe Hooper’s film is a much milder horror experience compared to his previous works with a return to the basics and less emphasis on gory detail. A small group of teenagers led by Amy go to the local carnival for a good time, entering the funhouse for a spooky ride. When the ride breaks down, the group witness a strange figure murdering the fortune teller and immediately get stalked by the creature, who’s face beneath the mask is something less than human. Presumably dropped when the DPP noticed their mistake, as the UK cinema version was passed uncut with zero issues.
