The House by the Cemetery | 1981 | Italy | Lucio Fulci
Heavily inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, Lucio Fulci's gore epic shows us the incredibly spooky Oak Mansion, the new home of the Boyle family. When creepy things start to go afoot and visitors end up being brutally slaughtered by a mysterious man, the family begin to suspect that they are not the only lodgers dwelling in the house. The Vampix VHS release actually had the BBFC cinema 'X' version on the print, already heavily cut. This did nothing to stop the film being pinched from the video shop and most likely due to the reaction to Fulci's Zombie Flesh Eaters, a jury found the title guilty of obscenity.
