The Slayer | 1982 | USA | J.S. Cardone
Concerning a nightmarish spectre made manifest in the real world, way before Wes Craven’s Nightmare on Elm Street, J.S. Cardone’s spooky supernatural slasher focuses on the disturbed Kay, an artist who frequently dreams about being killed by a shadowy creature that stalks her constantly. Going on vacation with her husband, brother and sister-in-law to an uninhabited island, she soon finds that her dreams are bleeding into reality as those around her begin to be stalked by the same creature. Incredibly imaginative and inventively gory, this was singled out due to its graphic death scenes which include a head being severed with a trapdoor and a pitchfork being driven through a torso.
