The Witch Who Came From the Sea | 1976 | USA | Matt Cimber
An experimental and often bizarre oddity from Matt Cimber, this film stars Millie Perkins as the disturbed Molly who lives in a seaside town and is drawn to the various men that pervade her life. Whilst suffering delusions and dissociations, she soon discovers that she may be responsible for the deaths of the same men, but amongst her flashbacks of her father’s horrendous sexual abuse of her, Molly is never quite sure what is real. Not massively explicit, it’s assumed that the film’s sexual abuse themes well as sensational warnings on the packaging of incest and castration contributed to it garnering enough attention to be charged with obscenity.
